How does Cyberstalking affect You

If you have spent any time at all on the internet, you probably have had personal experience or heard on the news about someone being stalked on the web. These days, it does not take much effort to get viewers to notice your photos online. One picture out on the internet and you become a possible target for the Cyberstalker.

Cyberstalking is using the internet in any way to keep track of another person or to spy on their life. There is no way for one person to know for certain what another person might do with information they have downloaded from your website or a picture they have downloaded from Facebook, Myspace or Twitter.

By adding your photo online, you open yourself to the world of Cyberstalking. You may not be able to stop the information from being stolen or how it may be used, but it is possible to track the information that was stolen back to its original owner through watermarking it through WinWatermark software before you make it available to the public.

Stealing information from the internet is as fast as the strength of your Broadband. It is accepted in everyday life by most just as walking out of the office with one or two company pens in your pocket. It is free advertisement, right? Wrong. Unless you have been given permission to take the item by someone legally authorized to give you the item, it is stealing, whether from the office or over the internet.

However, overall, it is accepted until it touches our personal world, then we expect the law to be on our side and protect what was rightfully ours to begin with. And, just like the graphics designs or watermarking on the pens at the office, when it comes to the internet, the law can only protect you once a cyber thief has made off with your personal property if you can prove it was indeed your personal property to begin with.

So what, you think, it is a picture of you. That should prove your ownership, right? Wrong. Anyone could have taken that photo of you with your permission or even without and now, they are the owner of your picture until legally proven otherwise. Sadly, the proof is up to you. The good news is, by watermarking your personal pictures, videos, or webpages by using WinWatermark software, you could hold the keys to ownership in your hand.

The number of online predators is on the rise since the influx of information began pouring out over the internet. Ma and Pa Digital Photographer are racing to their computers to add that photo of Jimmy’s winning touchdown and Aunt Martha’s blue ribbon pie recipe. Why not share yourself with the world and leave a mark that says, “I was here?”

That is great and noble, but before you click “send” in your e-mail or “add” or “upload” on your Facebook or Twitter family web page, consider the possible negative consequences. While we do not want to think that there is an identity thief under every internet photo-share bush or around every Myspace corner, it has been proven that there are. Be ready for them by watermarking your photos through WinWatermark software Before you let the world take a gander into your personal life, think offense. Protect what is yours on this end so you have less to defend on the other.

I have to say that I found WinWatermark very easy and intuitive to use and had immediate success. The other programs looked great, but I found it difficult to accomplish what I wanted - a simple watermark of text over the picture.
